Sydney Royal Easter Show, 2014, Class 300, Musical Instrument Made Predominately in Wood

A medieval inspirited guitar, Arrow is one of my first works to truly incorporate my restoration back ground with a real ‘old’ feel. Dirt in the corners, cracks and repairs created to have a warm and tactile nature. It has story to tell of where it has been over the years.

With imagery taken from the Archers bow strained with an arrow ready to be fired inside the sound box. Timber arrow heads for the machine head handles on a set of full custom machines. Blued steel with a forged coarseness that you would expect from medieval workmanship.

Matching into the fretboard makers of arrow heads changing their angle as they flow down the fretboard.

The bottom curve of the body is reminiscent of a lute, and the pointed top end of the body takings cue’s from a shield ready to fend off any attack.

On the back, weapon styled inlays like those of the displays of armour and spears in a radiating pattern that would see with a coat of arms below.
